NURSING SUPERINTENDENT

 JOB SUMMARY :

Nursing superintendent is responsible to the Medical Superintendent, in a hospital. She is accountable for the safe and efficient running of the various nursing department in the hospital. She is assisted in carring out her duties, by senior superintendent and clerical and domestic staff. 

NURSING SERVICE:

 

 

 

 

-

Participates in the formulation of the phylosophy of the hospital in general and those specific to the nursing service.

-

Determines goals, aims, objectives and policies of the Nursing Services.

-

Implements hospital policies and rules through various nursing units.

-

Interview and recruits Nursing staff.

-

Prepares budgets for the Nursing Services Depts.

-

Selects and  secures proper equipment needed for the hospital.

-

Plans staff development programmes and arrange for in service education and orientation programmes etc.

-

Participates in hospital & intra-hospital meeting / conferences and Nursing research.

 

WARD SUPERINTENDENT

JOB SUMMARY:

Ward Superintendent accountable for the Nursing Care management of a ward or a unit assigned to her. She is responsible to the Nursing Superintendent for her ward management. She takes full charge of the ward and assigns work for various categories of nursing and non-nursing personal working with her. She is also responsible for safety and comfort of the patients in her ward.  

 

 

 

 

 

-

Ensures proper admission, discharge of her patients.

-

Plans nursing care and makes patients, assignments as per their nursing needs

-

Assists in the direct care of the patient and when required

-

Assists in planning and administration of her ward

-

Ensures safety, comfort & good personal hygiene of her patient

-

Assists in making ward requirements & keeps necessary records

-

Reports about any medico-legal cases in the ward

-

Make duty and work assignments


STAFF NURSE

 

JOB SUMMARY :

Staff Nurse is a first level professional nurse who provides direct patient care to one patient or a group of patients assigned to her during duty shift. Assists in ward managements and supervision.

 

 

 

 

 

-

Admits and discharge the patients.

-

Maintains personal hygiene and comforts of the patients.

-

Maintains clean and safe environment for the patients.

-

Co-ordinates patient care with various health team members.

-

Helps doctors in diagnosis and treatments.

-

Observer change in patients condition & records, takes necessary action and reports to the concerned authority.

-

Hands over and takes over the patient and ward equipments and supply.

-

Maintains safety of the ward equipments.

-

Supervises students and other junior nursing personnel working her.

-

Maintains ward record and reports assigned to her by the sister in-charge.
